Belly dance workshop with Korea’s Jinhee Kim!! For the First time, Annie is  hosting Korea's Jinee Kim, winner of the 2012 World Belly Dance Convention and a multi-awarded belly dancer to Malaysia! Jinhee will help you memorize dance routines quickly and easily, and she will describe the proper posture and the dance turn & spin, and finally spotting. She will answer your questions on spinning like where momentum comes from and tapping. Choreography is generally taught in series of step combinations.

SATURDAY, 29^TH SEPTEMBER 2012

I LOVE MY VEIL – SINGLE & DOUBLE VEIL TECHNIQUE (2HRS) 11:00AM – 1:00PM (RM130)

Veils are the favorite props  to most of the belly dancers due to the beauty and grace.  Some people like classical styles while other prefer modern styles. Since both styles have their unique veil techniques and combinations, you can now learn from the Veil Expert, Mr. Serkan Tutar, to create magical and visually stunning veil dance. Silk veil is referred. 

MAGIC VEIL CHOREOGRAPHY (4HRS) 2:00PM – 6:00PM (RM200)

This is a highly required workshop by last year’s veil workshop participants after they attended Serkan’s veil technique workshop. You will learn a full veil dance choreography with lots of grace and beauty of veil. Silk veil is preferred.

SUNDAY 30^TH SEPTEMBER 2012

SUPER CRAZY DRUMSOLO CHOREOGRAPHY (4HRS) 11:00PM – 2:00PM (RM200)

Forget about all the drum solo techniques that you have learnt till now with this “Super Crazy” drum solo”. Come and enjoy this Serkan’s style drum solo that is modern, dynamic and never been seen before with lots of shimmies, techniques, combinations and a “super crazy” drum solo choreography that is highly entertaining and technically challenging.

SHAABI DANCE CHOEREGRAPHY (3HRS) 3:00PM – 6:00PM (RM150)

Shaabi style of Bellydancing, is playful, flirtatious and, a little “cheeky”, with a strong folkloric influence. The movements are grounded and earthy, so less spins and big traveling steps than Classic style Raqs Sharqi. The steps are mostly on flat feet rather than on ball of the feet. The movements are not complex but full of feeling. Serkan’s Shaabi style is fun and funky. You will definitely enjoy learning and dancing to it.

Mercedes Nieto…. I love  the way she teach and I love her dance very much!! I saw her live performance during our gala show and it brings tears to my eyes each time!  She is such beauty and grace! Her  moves are almost so perfect that I felt as though her  body. I am probably one of her biggest fan, and I hope to fly  to Hungary to study with her….(sound so serious). Looking forward to attend her festival in Budapest.

It's a bit late to post....Anyhow, I think that's about all I should share... There's tons more, but this will give you an idea. For more info, you've got to take the course. Another AMAZING weekend workshops at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!!! Hadia is one of my favorite Oriental Dance Teacher. It was my pleasure to work together with Hadia since 2009, 2010 and 2011!!! I remember when I first time attended her workshop in Singapore 2008, she talks about how to protect  the lower back,  and this is a very popular posture in belly dance that is detrimental to our bodies.  For the anatomy and safety,  Hadia does a much great  job at describing  things, anyway and better still, she clearly illustrates and proves her findings. Workshop 1 - Sharqi Technique and Combinations 10.00am to 2.00pm (4 hours) RM180.00

Now that you have a base in Hadia’s Revolutionary Body Logic Technique you can get ready to explore 1001 variations of all of your favourite movements and steps, focusing on easy and natural transitions and ending with styling and “combinations” from a true master that will inspire great choreographies and even make improvisation as breeze!

Workshop 2 - Baladi 3.00pm to 6.00pm (3 hours) RM150.00

Baladi, which is also known as the Mother of Oriental Dance, is by definition, pure improvisation. However, what most dancers do not realize is that the concept of choreography for Oriental “Sharqi” was relatively unheard of, until a bit more than 2 decades ago. Before this time, the most famous and skillful artists presented their own unique versions of artistic improvisation as their performance. Although oriental choreography is a wonderful vehicle to explore the intricacies of beautiful oriental music, it can become a serious limitation to any dancer who wants to dance from her heart to the soul of this rich and mysterious music. Hadia asks you “Would you like to learn another dance, or would you like to learn how to dance?” She will offer you the keys to her vision of the evolution of Egyptian improvisation from its’ origins in the popular urban dance style of the Egyptian woman to the highly refined and stylized Taxsim Baladi of the professional oriental artist.
