Day 1 - 9th April 2011, Saturday
Workshop 1 - Sharqi Technique and Combinations 10.00am to 2.00pm (4 hours) RM180.00
Now that you have a base in Hadia’s Revolutionary Body Logic Technique you can get ready to explore 1001 variations of all of your favourite movements and steps, focusing on easy and natural transitions and ending with styling and “combinations” from a true master that will inspire great choreographies and even make improvisation as breeze!
Workshop 2 - Baladi 3.00pm to 6.00pm (3 hours) RM150.00
Baladi, which is also known as the Mother of Oriental Dance, is by definition, pure improvisation. However, what most dancers do not realize is that the concept of choreography for Oriental “Sharqi” was relatively unheard of, until a bit more than 2 decades ago. Before this time, the most famous and skillful artists presented their own unique versions of artistic improvisation as their performance. Although oriental choreography is a wonderful vehicle to explore the intricacies of beautiful oriental music, it can become a serious limitation to any dancer who wants to dance from her heart to the soul of this rich and mysterious music. Hadia asks you “Would you like to learn another dance, or would you like to learn how to dance?” She will offer you the keys to her vision of the evolution of Egyptian improvisation from its’ origins in the popular urban dance style of the Egyptian woman to the highly refined and stylized Taxsim Baladi of the professional oriental artist.

Hadia is famous for her high energy, creative and innovative drum solo choreographies which take you 1001 levels beyond LOCK, POP, TUCK! Here is your chance to apply Hadia’s great hip articulations and shimmy techniques, as well as surprise moves from her vast repertoire of other dance styles to her latest, greatest and dynamic drum solo that is guaranteed to be fun for all!
